Step away from the everyday and immerse yourself in a day of relaxation and self-care at our all-inclusive wellness retreat, set in the peaceful and idyllic surroundings of Hornington Manor. This carefully designed experience invites you to restore your body, quiet your mind, and uplift your spirit.
Wintering Then Rising — A Day Retreat for Renewal
As the quiet of winter settles in, join us for a restorative day retreat at Hornington Manor designed to help you slow down, reconnect, and gently prepare to rise into the new year. Wintering Then Rising is a celebration of rest and renewal — a day filled with warmth, creativity, and mindful connection.
We begin with coffee and gentle introductions at 10:00am, before moving into a deeply grounding sound, breathwork and yoga session (10:30–12:00) led by Hold Fit. This session will help release the weight of the past year, awaken your senses, and set clear, calm intentions for what’s to come.
After a short comfort break (12:00–12:15), you’ll immerse yourself in the art of botanical candle making (12:15–1:15), creating a scent that speaks to your own inner light — a symbol of the brightness waiting to emerge after winter’s rest.
A nourishing lunch follows (1:15–2:15), giving time to relax and connect with others. The afternoon continues with a hands-on Kokedama wreath-making workshop (2:15–4:15), where you’ll work with moss, roots, and natural textures to create a living piece that embodies balance and growth.
We’ll pause for tea at 4:15, before returning to unmould your candle (4:30) — the perfect keepsake to take home, a gentle reminder of your intentions and the warmth of the day.
The retreat concludes at 5:00pm, leaving you calm, restored, and ready to move into the light of the new year — rested, inspired, and shining
OVERNIGHT STAY
Hornington Manor offers you the chance to extend your experience by booking into one of their on site shepherds huts.
Nestled in the working farm grounds of Hornington Manor is a collection of eight cosy Shepherd Huts. A stark transition from the rumbling wagons of the past that once rolled through the fields of Yorkshire, this luxurious accommodation makes for the perfect private stay. Experience an unforgettable countryside tradition, blanketed in comfort and style.
Each bespoke hut is delicately themed, taking inspiration from the culture of Yorkshire and beyond. Whether you venture out to the local villages, cities and attractions or spend the entirety of your escape in blissful isolation, your retreat guarantees a unique experience to be treasured.

Where are your candles made?
All Born of Botanics fragrance products (from candles to essential oils) are hand-poured in our workshop in York.
What is your returns policy?
- Online orders can be returned if in a resalable condition (including any packaging) and returned to us within 14 days of you receiving the item. The address to return items to can be found at the bottom of this pages.
- Items must be unused, and in their original undamaged packaging.
- We will refund you for the product within 14 days.
- We cannot provide refunds for shipping costs.
