Come along for a cosy, creative evening painting your very own Lyccander — Born of Botanics’ friendly little ghost.
Lyccander has actually been with us for quite some time. Back in 2020, when Born of Botanics was still The Little Yorkshire Candle Company, our shop was in a rather old — and supposedly rather haunted — building on Goodramgate in York. Our little ghost candle was named Lyccander, after LYCC, and became our much friendlier resident ghost.
We may have left Goodramgate and its ghoulish goings-on behind, but Lyccander came with us and has made an appearance every autumn ever since.
Now it’s your turn to create your own.
Join us for a relaxed evening of candle painting, where you’ll decorate your very own Born of Botanics Lyccander ghost candle to take home. No artistic skills required — just come along, have fun and see where your imagination takes you.
Your £25 ticket includes your Lyccander candle, all painting materials, tea or coffee and cake. You’re also very welcome to bring your own drink if you fancy something a little stronger.
Come on your own or bring a friend — it’ll be a lovely, informal evening of painting, chatting, cake and a little bit of ghostly history.

Where are your candles made?
All Born of Botanics fragrance products (from candles to essential oils) are hand-poured in our workshop in York.
What is your returns policy?
- Online orders can be returned if in a resalable condition (including any packaging) and returned to us within 14 days of you receiving the item. The address to return items to can be found at the bottom of this pages.
- Items must be unused, and in their original undamaged packaging.Â
- We will refund you for the product within 14 days.
- We cannot provide refunds for shipping costs.
